Lately the news of F(x)'s Sulli dating Dynamic Duo's Choiza have been released and many comments on the (used to be) famous K-pop news site allkpop (Yes, I still visit this crappy website. Mainly to get a few laughs at the crappy writing skills of it's authors and at the retarded comments of the readers of this website) have been quit positive for my huge surprise, but oh well it's not like it's one of their precious "oppars" who has been caught dating so it's all well and good.
Personally I have no problem with Sulli and Choiza dating. Yes, there is an age gap but it's not that big to bother me or to make me think something is fishy in their alleged relationship.
What really bugs me about this is the fact that the comments on Sulli dating are so much different from let's say Kai from EXO would have been.
I know that double standards are pretty common in the K-pop industry (as well as almost all the other industries) but this kind of thing makes me wonder how much fangirls rule the K-pop industry/market. Don't get me wrong, I'm happy Sulli isn't being slut shamed for dating Choiza but do you think the same faith would approach Kai's (theoretical) girlfriend? I don't think so.
So my main point with this rant is that double standards are raging among K-pop fans and this is not a good thing at all. Sulli might be safe this time but just think what would happen if she starts dating another popular K-pop idol, would she still get rather kind comments from netizens and K-pop fans? Or would she be slut shamed like all the others?
